Marshal Walz
When woodworker, Marshal Walz heard that we needed small desks for visiting researchers to use, he stepped right up and made two beauties for LLA. Thank You Marshal !!
Detail of the desk with the leaf open. Known as a fall front or "lady's writing desk", this Stickley replica incorporates some of the Leopold red oak birth tree wood. It was designed by famed architect Harvey Ellis c.1900 for areas with close quarters. Perfect for use by a researcher or student in one of the bedrooms, or in the corner of a parlor.
Marshal made the lampshade as well as the oak base. The oak frame shade has real mica and casts a beautiful warm glow.
Marshal built and donated a wonderful Gustav Stickley c. 1900 replica desk. This Arts & Crafts model #708 is sometimes referred to as a "postcard desk". Its style & size are perfect for students & scholars to use in the Starker-Leopold House during their Researcher - Writer Program visits.
Thank you very much Marshal for such a beautiful piece made of warm, lustrous black cherry - just the right touch for the Leopolds.
